EM Lewis has worked on a variety of projects, in the theater and beyond. These are a few that don’t quite fit into the “playwright,” “librettist,” or “teacher” categories.
Host Playwright — For the last five years, Lewis has been the Host Playwright for the Ashland New Plays Festival. She welcomes the four winning playwrights to the festival, moderates talk-backs, and teaches playwriting workshops for members of the community.
Mentor — Lewis twice served as a playwriting mentor for the annual Young Playwrights Festival at the Blank Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
Producer — While in Los Angeles, Lewis produced a year-long theatrical investigation into the Iraq War called The War Plays Project. It featured readings, discussions with playwrights from across the country, and panel discussions on a variety of topics.
Screenwriter — Lewis has written several screenplays. “Blood Memory” was a quarter-finalist for the Nichols Fellowship. “Entangled” was a project she wrote for HayHouse Publishing, which was produced in 2012.
